Records Office hours published by MCSO
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Wednesday: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Lunch closure: noon to 1 p.m.
The Sheriff’s published records hours differ slightly from a related annual-report schedule, so confirm before traveling. Most police or incident reports are described as available after 72 hours. The page lists a $6 report-copy charge and a $4 proof-of-incarceration service with photo identification during normal business hours. Those amounts do not guarantee the fee or availability of a booking photograph.
Choose the route that matches the record and custody stage:
- For a current Macomb County Jail custody check, start at the official Locate an Inmate page. The home page explains JailTracker, booking fields, photo limits, and the formal records path.
- For someone who may have been booked very recently, follow Arrested Today. Macomb has no verified complete official 24-hour feed, so an absent roster result may require a call to MCSO or the arresting agency.
- For selected reports across several days, use Arrest Reports. It distinguishes Sheriff and Prosecutor announcements, mapped incidents, news coverage, and archive requests rather than calling them one complete blotter.
- For a custody change or release notification, use VINE Arrest Check. VINE status and alerts are different from a jail booking record or booking-photo source.
- For an originating police report, contact the agency that made the arrest. Warren and Sterling Heights maintain city police records routes. The Sheriff’s Office is the current primary policing route identified for Mount Clemens. A city arrest does not always result in a Macomb County Jail booking.
- For a charge, arraignment, docket, or final outcome, use the Macomb County court-records page, CourtView/eAccess, MiCOURT, or the correct district court. Do not send a court-disposition request to MCSO merely because the case began with an arrest.
- For a person in Michigan state prison or under qualifying state supervision, search Michigan Department of Corrections OTIS. County-jail-only and newly arrested people may not appear there.
- For federal prison custody, use the Federal Bureau of Prisons inmate locator. For immigration custody, use the official ICE Online Detainee Locator. Neither system is a Macomb County booking feed.
A records request should name the person, date of birth if known, approximate arrest or booking date, arresting agency, booking or report number if available, precise record requested, and preferred format. Ask separately for a booking record and any releasable booking photograph. Michigan FOIA exemptions or other legal restrictions may require withholding or redaction, and no request guarantees that an image will be released.
An arrest or booking entry records an accusation, not guilt. Every person is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
