Who Handles Mount Clemens Arrests
Mount Clemens stands apart from the county's other cities. It has no city police department. The official MCSO city-services page lists Mount Clemens among the communities the Macomb County Sheriff's Office serves. The Sheriff's Office provides those communities with primary police protection. That makes the Sheriff the first stop for an arrest report. It also holds any later county booking record.
You can reach the Sheriff's Office at 43565 Elizabeth Road, Mount Clemens, MI 48043. The main line is 586-469-5151, and non-emergency dispatch answers at 586-469-5502. City Hall sits at One Crocker Boulevard, 48043, reachable at 586-469-6800. These functions sound like one shop. In practice, patrol, dispatch, arrest records, and jail custody remain distinct.
Mount Clemens is the county seat. Its April 1, 2020 Census population was 15,697, per the Census TIGERweb table. The courthouse, the prosecutor, and the county jail sit close together. Proximity does not merge their records. A jail booking stays with the Sheriff. A court file stays with the court. Before requesting anything, ask which office created the record and which office holds it now.
Where Mount Clemens Arrests Are Published
The city publishes no daily arrest blotter of its own. Official Sheriff and county sources come ahead of news outlets and commercial arrest databases.
| Source | What it answers | Photos | Authority |
|---|---|---|---|
| MCSO Locate an Inmate | Whether a person is currently shown in Macomb County custody | Possible on an individual result, never guaranteed | Official county route |
| MCSO Records Office | Sheriff incident, arrest, booking, and proof-of-incarceration records as available | Request separately; disclosure is record-specific | Official |
| Mount Clemens City Clerk | Records possessed by the city | No routine photo publication verified | Official municipal route |
| 41B District Court | Case events after arrest, including later charge and disposition information | Not a booking-photo feed | Official court |
| Official and local news | Selected noteworthy cases | Story-specific | Incomplete by design |
| Commercial aggregators | Copied or compiled Macomb records | Varies by site and record | Unofficial |
Start with the MCSO Locate an Inmate page as the front door to JailTracker. The county calls it an inmate locator. Read it as a current-custody search. It does not promise a full 24-hour arrest list, every citation, everyone released before transfer, or any archive of past bookings.
Looking Up an Arrest in Mount Clemens
A careful search follows the record, not one webpage. Trace a Mount Clemens arrest from patrol through custody and into the courts, because no single page holds the whole story.
- Open Arrested Today and follow its official roster link. Search JailTracker for current Macomb County custody and note the time of the search.
- If the person is absent, do not assume there was no arrest. The person could have been cited, released, transferred elsewhere, not yet processed, or recorded under different identifying information.
- Contact the MCSO Records Office for a Sheriff incident, arrest, or county booking record. Provide a focused date, location, name, and report number when known.
- Use the Mount Clemens City Clerk’s FOIA channel only for a record the city possesses. The city clerk is not a replacement for Sheriff Records when MCSO created the police report.
- Check 41B District Court for the case after booking. A later prosecutor charge, amendment, dismissal, plea, or disposition is more authoritative than the original charge.
- Use Arrest Reports to understand the multi-day source landscape, but keep selected news and incident-map data separate from actual custody entries.
The Macomb roster publishes no refresh schedule. A new arrest may take hours to appear. Check again after classification, imaging, or a data sync. A release can make a name roll off just as fast. For the wider source map, see the Macomb County recent arrests overview.
Sheriff Arrest and Booking Records
The MCSO Records Office sits at the Sheriff's Elizabeth Road address. The phone line is 586-307-9393. Records and FOIA email goes to records.mcso@macombcountymi.gov. Hours run 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, with Wednesday open until 6 p.m. and a noon to 1 p.m. lunch closure. A second county notice gives a slightly different closing time. Confirm before traveling.
Name the record you want. That keeps the request fast. Specify an incident report, an arrest report, a booking record, proof of incarceration, or a photograph. Add the date, the place, the agency, and any incident or booking number you know. Ask about fees and delivery as well, because copies are not always free or instant.
Michigan FOIA sets the access framework in MCL 15.231. MCL 15.243 lists the exemptions. Active investigations, juvenile files, sealed material, victim information, and privacy protections can each limit a release. No official Macomb page promises that every booking photo goes public, so a missing mugshot may reflect processing, restriction, status, or vendor display choices.

When the City Holds the Record
City-held documents follow a separate path. The Mount Clemens staff directory names City Clerk and FOIA Coordinator Cathleen Martin, reachable at 586-469-6800 ext. 4 and CMartin@mountclemens.gov. Use her when the city possesses the material. City Hall does not run its own police booking feed.
Sort out ownership before sending anything. A Sheriff-generated report belongs at MCSO. A city-held document belongs with the clerk. Sent the wrong way, a request may sit or come back with no responsive record. When ownership is unclear, describe the item briefly and ask which office is the custodian. Keep copies of the request, the response, and any record number.
This split defines Mount Clemens. Warren and Sterling Heights run their own police-record channels. Mount Clemens starts with MCSO for police service, with the clerk covering city-held documents, and neither path adds up to an independent city police arrest blotter.
41B Court After a Mount Clemens Booking
Most Mount Clemens cases land in 41B District Court. The court also serves Clinton Township and Harrison Township. Its 41B District Court docket is the record that matters once a booking becomes a case. Prosecutors can file charges that differ from what the booking page said. Courts, not police, control the docket from that point on. So treat the booking record as the first word, not the last.
Matching a name takes care. A name alone can point at the wrong person. Compare the case number, birth details, offense date, and arresting agency whenever the record shows them. Felonies can move up after bindover to Macomb County Circuit Court. The county's CourtView/eAccess portal and Michigan's MiCOURT search both help. Still, search the court that actually holds the case. Bond changes fast too. Rely on the live court and custody records. Skip the old screenshot or third-party repost.
Selected Mount Clemens Arrest Coverage
Not every Mount Clemens arrest makes the news. The MCSO news page and the Macomb Prosecutor newsroom highlight selected cases. Editors pick what to cover. That choice is not an arrest log. Local outlets like The Macomb Daily, C&G Newspapers, WWJ, WDIV, FOX 2, and WXYZ also report individual Mount Clemens cases. Photos appear in only some stories and come from varied credited sources.
Private sites are another matter. Busted Newspaper, RecentlyBooked, Arrests.org, and older Mugshots.com pages carry Macomb or MCSO-labeled entries. None is official. Listings can lag, repeat, or go stale. RecentlyBooked says its Macomb page offers no booking photos. Mugshots.zone lists no Macomb section. Always check a city or agency label against the official record before trusting it. Start with the government source when a detail matters.
Why a Recent Arrest May Be Missing
JailTracker answers one narrow question. It shows whether someone is in Macomb County custody right now. It does not clock every Mount Clemens police contact. A fresh booking can lag while intake and classification finish. Sometimes the person was cited, released, or moved to another jurisdiction. Sealed or restricted details stay out of public systems too.
The county crime map does not fill that gap. Its own guide describes a past-week incident view. The view is updated daily, and sensitive or ongoing matters are left off. An incident is not an arrest. A map dot is not a booking photo. The MCSO mobile app sends alerts, tips, and event news. But it is not a full booking-photo feed.
Treat a blank result as a prompt to ask the right office directly. Speculation helps no one. Note which sources you checked and when, then contact the record custodian. That audit trail matters when names, custody status, or release timing change.
Separate Jail, Prison, and Alert Systems
County jail and state prison are different systems. A new arrest in Macomb County puts a person in JailTracker. A prison sentence changes that. Someone in state custody may appear in the Michigan Department of Corrections OTIS search. OTIS leaves out people whose only contact was a local arrest or a county-jail stay.
For custody alerts, VINE Arrest Check explains Michigan VINE registration and the difference between county-jail and MDOC notifications. The Macomb Prosecutor's Crime Victim Rights Unit helps qualifying victims locally. Alerts are a convenience. They do not replace the official roster or the court docket.
History adds some context. The Sheriff's history page dates the jail tower to 1987. A 200-bed annex followed in 1998. Later planning added central intake and mental-health services. That county-seat past is why Mount Clemens arrests can touch several county institutions at once.
